I am new to BusinessObjects 4.0 as of 18 months ago. Most of that time I have been building new reports and converting some from BOBJ 6.5 (almost all based on universe built and maintained by a vendor of ours). I have built a few basic universes. However, I need to move beyond the basics. I am trying to build a universe where I think I need to used contexts. I have posted the specifics about that in a different discussion.
What I am wonder is what are some good resources to gain a greater understand not just how to do various things in a universe, but why along with trade-offs to different approaches? I have taken a look at the Official Product Tutorials – SAP BusinessObjects Information Design Tool.
I am signed up for Information Design Tool I and Information Design Tool II three weeks from now. I attended The Kimball Group's Dimensional Modeling in Depth course last summer. However, I think it would have been better for me had I waited with that course until I had a little more experience.
As I mentioned previously, I think I need to dig into contexts. I have found these blog posts related to contexts...
http://www.dagira.com/2009/07/22/context-versus-alias-overview/
http://michaelwelter.wordpress.com/2011/06/29/universe-contexts-in-a-nutshell/
Are there other resources that I should be checking out? I understand that this may be something I just need to wrestle with for awhile.
Thanks,
Noel
