Hello everyone.
I have been caught up in this interesting scenario here and have been trying to suppress the contexts in my model. A,B,C,D,E are the tables joined in the below fashion clearly creating loops - A-C-D-E-A and B-C-D-E-B resolved by contexts. When objects from A,B or A, D or A,B, D are selected in combination this will invoke a context to pick and works well till here.
Now I do not want to invoke any context when objects from A, B, D are selected for reporting. Also there is a relation that exists between A --> B and A --> D directly if we want to link it.
Since I do not want more contexts and need to suppress the existing one, I made a shortcut join between A --> B and A --> D. (Link b/w C to A,B,D is also needed hence not removed).
After this change, when I pick objects from A and B only or A and D only then NO context is invoked. But when I include objects from A,B,D it again invokes context selection.
So looks like I am half way through but my problem is not entirely solved to suppress context. I have tried changing the parameters in IDT in the data foundation for Short Cut join - from ShortestPath(default) to "Successive" and "Global". But nothing seems to be really working here. At least I hope Global should consider A-->B and A-->D as the two shortcut joins and eliminate other contexts/tables involved.
